Yes We Can, I Know We Can Can - With Apologies to Allen Toussaint
I love canned beer. I think all beer should be canned. Canned beer is easier on the environment, protects beer from light degradation and is easier to carry home while riding a bike. But the real reason I love canned beer? Shotgun!
Nothing says I appreciate the intricacies of the relationship between the hops, malt and yeast in a fine craft brew like sucking it down in two seconds. Caldera Brewing Company’s IPA washes over your palate with notes of citrus and pine complimented by only a subtle sweet malt. Lacing? Who cares? It is all on the inside of my throat! Nose? I smelled it when I belched afterwards, smelled kind of like the peppers on the sandwich I ate for lunch. I am sure it had a lovely amber color but the can has to be much prettier.
But seriously, Caldera makes some fantastic beers and their IPA is a fine example how an IPA does not have be a contest to see how many IBU’s a person can handle. Also, shotgunning beer is stupid. Cans really are great. Both guns and people kill people. Even shotguns. Allen Toussaint? Well, yes we can, I know we can can.
